Over the last year, NYC Mesh has been taking steps to establish itself was an independent non-profit, a necessary step to handle sustain the growing organization. A mesh network finds strength in its decentralized nature because there is no single point of failure and we want our organization to embody that, too. However, during this project, we have learned the ways in which our laws and cultural attitudes favor hierarchical organizational models over those that are decentralized. We'll discuss this and the steps we are taking to create a truly decentralized organization that is equitable and resilient.
