The panel will explore ways to organize a durable community structure in very different Community Networks. Common challenges include how to sustain a dynamic and inclusive community in which everybody learns and contributes, and in particular how to involve non-technical people, women or young people with a low level of education that could feel excluded from such communities. Examples will include WELM@ in Senegal (a gender approach to connect unconnected communities using the community network model) and NYC Mesh in New York.
For instance, recurrent tasks in community networks are installation, maintenance and management. How to identify the potential technical volonteers from the community who will be further trained and assigned to train others and manage the technical establishments and maintenance of the community network?
